A bitter sweet day today. Continue to be very sad that I don't have my Mum to share the day with. Rather than ignore the occasion, as we have done for the last three years, Sally and I cooked two of our Mum's 'signature dishes' - rolled pav and zucchini slice. Took these over to the lake for an afternoon picnic, which Ella was particularly thrilled about. It seems we've found a way to incorporate some ceremony into the day, even if it involves cooking!
Of course, it is also lovely to now be a mother myself. I have an intimate understanding of how the mothering job is at once joyous and exhausting.
We miss you Mum.

G'day from Darwin....I have been reading this blog from the beginning and now I am very happy to be able to comment!....What a gorgeous little baby Zoe is!...of course, as I am related, I can say it runs in the family. I had a very nice happy and sad Mothers Day in the Top End...Happy, that I was with one of my Girls and my Grand girl...sad, that I was not with my other Girl who lives in Mummelgum N.S.W.and my two beautiful Nieces Sharen and Sally in Ballina ...and also because I miss my beautiful (ex) Sister-in-law Vicki every day... I know that she is smiling down on Sharen,Ewan and little Zoe..(Please don't cry Shaz)...I promise that my next comments will be briefer and happier....Love4ever..Crena. aka AC and Great Aunty Crena.Age 68 ..who had a ride on a Harley last night for Mums Day!
